More information concerning On-line registration and the ISHR 2009 Program will soon be posted on the Conference web site (http://ishr.mcgill.ca ).

The International Society for the History of Rhetoric (ISHR) will hold its 2009 Congress at McGill University (Montreal, Québec, Canada) in conjunction with the Canadian Society for the Study of Rhetoric (CSSR) (like we did in Saskatoon in 1997). The CSSR had its own Call for Papers, offering a Special session (“The Embodiment of Rhetoric/Rhetoric of Embodiment”).

The two meetings will be held consecutively. On-site registration at McGill University will be an on-going process from Monday night, July 20th, 2009 until Saturday, July 25th, 2009. The CSSR Conference will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 and Wednesday, July 22nd 2009. The ISHR Welcoming Reception will be held on the evening of Wednesday, July 22nd. The sessions of the ISHR Conference itself will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 23rd, 24th and 25th, with excursions to Québec City and Ottawa on Sunday, July 26th, 2009.

LODGING

Each delegate/attendee is responsible for making his/her own reservation directly with the New Residence Hall Reservation Desk. A Visa, Mastercard or American Express with expiry date to guarantee the reservation is required with actual payment being made upon guest arrival. The New Residence Hall must be advised of each individual cancellation NO LATER THAN NOON 2 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL DATE, otherwise a one night charge will be in effect.

This hotel offers specially negociated rate ($111.75 canadian dollars per night for single or double room, including all taxes and a $5 CDN credit for breakfast in the hotel dining room). When you reserve, mention conference name : ISHR 2009.

Since Montreal is an active and highly visited city, you are recommended to reserve as early as possible. Reservations after June 19, 2009 are subject to availability.

TRANSPORTATION

Montreal Trudeau International Airport is the closest airport.

From the Airport, you can either take a taxi or an aerobus (see below).

TAXI

Upon exiting the terminal (arrivals level) a dispatcher will help you obtain a taxi or limousine. No reservation is required. All taxi and limousine operators working out of Montréal–Trudeau are required to have a permit and to comply with its terms and conditions.

AÉROBUS

L’Aérobus (Quai #5) provides an efficient connection by motor bus between Montréal–Trudeau airport and downtown Montréal.

L’Aérobus stops at the Montréal Central Bus Station located at 505 de Maisonneuve Blvd. E.

Schedule: Departures every 30 minutes.

Travel time: Plan approximately 45 minutes.

Ticket office: Tickets on sale at the Montréal Central Bus Station and at Montréal–Trudeau (arrivals level).
